It is just history and can be found in any history book or visit to the battlefield itself, outside Washington, DC.

It is interesting that more than one battle was fought here. First Bull Run, or First Manassas, was fought in 1861 and the foes met again here in 1862 (2nd Manassas).

This battlefield happened to be on the land of a farmer, near the crossroads at Manassas Junction as it was then known. The farmer's name was McLean.

It is of interest that, after this violent battle, farmer McLean moved his family to be safer, further south near the town of Appomattox Courthouse, in Virginia. It is here 4 years later, where the war officially ended with Lee surrendering. So, essentially, the war began and ended on the unassuming Mr. McLean's property. It was joked that the war began on his front porch and ended in his parlor.
