London came in first for the most popular destination in the world for the second year in a row since knocking Bangkok from its first place ranking in 2013. The drop in ranking is largely due to political unrest in Thailand's capital city.

London welcomed in approximately 18.82 million overnight visitors in 2015 whereas Bangkok estimated 18.24 million visitors. Reports suggest that the Thai capital is showing signs of recovery and closing the gap with London in the following years to reclaim its top spot. Not only did London have the most travelers, it's estimated to have the most visitor spending, at $20.23 billion. London and Bangkok have taken the top two spots in the MasterCard Global Destination Cities Index for the last five years which is extremely impressive to say the least!

The ever so popular New York City in the United States took second place in visitor spending with a whopping estimate of 17.37 billion. Paris, France followed NYC with its $16.61 billion estimate.
