Are you people daft!? Mexico is most definitely considered to be part of the North American continent. Virtually everything north of the Colombia/Panama border is in North America.

trudyroach, The principal/superintendent told me, in north central New Jersey that cursive handwriting is a "dead language." I told him it is an advanced form of expression in the English language. Eight years ago, he told me that a grade school child's story was excellent. It had ten? pages, and very few sentence divisions or punctuation marks. It also had a combination of stories within it. Central America is merely a region/area and under no definition ever looses its status as a part of North America which includes all countries north of the Panama Canal. Central America is neither a country nor a continent. It is merely a region/area, a useful shorthand reference similar to the “Far East” or the “Middle East” or the “Near East.” All of which are Part of Asia.

SMH! By ANY definition Mexico is in North America. As is every square foot of ground north of the Panama Canal. All countries south of the US and north of the Panama Canal are also referred to as Central America which is a geographical region/area. However, regardless of what Central America is usually called, it is ALWAYS part of North America. This is not up for debate.

I agree! Although Mexico may technically be in North America if America is divided into just N and S. However, Mexico is not, by any definition, North. Another enterprising and intelligent person asked this question of the United Nations, knowing they refer to Mexico as in "Central America." Here is their reply: "Thank you for contacting the UN Statistics Division (UNSD). You are correct, Mexico is in the continent called North America. In fact, there is no continent called Central America. However, we refer to Central America as a geographical region, not as a continent. There are seven continents. For statistical purposes, these seven continents were divided into over 20 "regions" that are so drawn as to obtain greater homogeneity in sizes of population, demographic circumstances and accuracy of demographic statistics. The continent of North America comprises the regions Northern America (021), Caribbean (029), and Central America (013). Another example is Russia -- it is in the continent of Asia but it belongs in the Eastern Europe ("region").
