The Flintstones is an American animated sitcom produced by Hanna-Barbera. The series takes place in a romanticized Stone Age setting, depicts the lives of the titular characters, their next-door neighbors and best friends, and their families. It was originally broadcast from September 30, 1960, to April 1, 1966 in a prime time schedule, the first such example of an animated series.

Arnold the paper boy appears in several episodes of the Flintstones and is known as Fred Flintstone's arch-nemesis in some. He annoys Fred Flintstone every time he appears and even jokes that he and Pebbles Flintstone will get married someday. He is an excellent ping pong and marble player.

Arnold is also very good at scrabble and shows that he is well wiser than Fred is. His age is somewhat unknown, although in the beginning of the second season he was known as being 8 years old.

Arnold is frequently able to best and outsmart Fred at a number of tasks and also he often unintentionally throws the newspaper at Fred's face. His parents are mentioned, but almost never seen. His mother Doris, a friend of Wilma and Betty's (as evidenced in the episode "The Little Stranger", which originally aired on November 2, 1962), has never been seen on screen. His father was shown on the episode "Take Me Out to the Ball Game", which originally aired on April 27, 1962; his name, however, is unknown.
