Fair Lane is the name of the estate and former home of Ford Motor Company founder Henry Ford and his wife Clara. It is located in Dearborn, Michigan and construction began in 1913 and was completed for occupancy by 1915. The 1,300 acre estate along the River Rouge included a large limestone house, greenhouse, boathouse, riding stables, indoor swimming pool and bowling alley. Famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright participated in the initial design. The house consisting of 56 rooms covering 31,000 square feet was considered befitting but less grand than many other mansions of the era. The Ford Motor company named a line of automobiles after the home of their founder called the "Fairlane" and was produced from 1955-1970.
