July 20th 1969, was a huge event witnessed on television. The whole world watched for the very first time, a transmission from space. We all watched intently as the lunar module descended down to the surface of the moon. I was 9 years old at the time, and was fascinated as any young boy would be. It was more then just a descent, it was the communication of Buzz Aldrin and the Kennedy space center as the eagle descended. The excitement heightened as the lunar modual touched the moon. "The Eagle has landed", an assurance the eagle was on the moon. I remember watching the hatch door intently waiting for Neil Armstrong to step out of the hatch onto the ladder and it seemed like time had slowed down as he carfully stepped down the ladder. As he took the last step his foot stopped just before his foot touched the moon. That's when he said "It is one small step for man..... And one giant leap for mankind".
