What is the only U.S. state to be divided into boroughs?

Alaska is not divided into counties, as most of the other U.S. states, but it is divided into boroughs. Many of the more densely populated parts of the state are part of Alaska's 16 boroughs, which function somewhat similarly to counties in other states. However, unlike county-equivalents in the other 49 states, the boroughs do not cover the entire land area of the state. The area not part of any borough is referred to as the Unorganized Borough.

Aside from that, am I the only nerd confused by the question??? Isn't New York divided into five boroughs, making The Last Frontier State NOT the only U.S. state to be divided into boroughs!????

Thomas Breen, Only New York City is divided into boroughs. They are CITY divisions, NOT STATE boroughs. The state itself is divided into counties. The boroughs of the city are also considered counties of the state.

Interesting .I got it, but areas not in these 16 boroughs, are known as Unorganised Borough. It is a bit funny , even after so many years this is so, is that the US gulag / black hole ?.
