Japan's Nagoya Station is the world's largest train station in terms of floor area, which according to reliable experts stands at an astonishing 446,000m². It is the headquarters of the Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central), which has two towers that run atop of the station. Officially, the station and the area around it is called Meieki.

The current station was completed in December 1999 and reportedly recorded an average of 1,140,000 passengers per day in 2006, making it at the time Japan's sixth busiest station. Beginning in May 1886, this station first opened to the public.
