What is Wilma Flintstone's maiden name?

Wilma Flintstone is a fictional character in the television animated series "The Flintstones". Wilma is the red-headed wife of caveman Fred Flintstone, daughter of Pearl Slaghoople, and mother of Pebbles Flintstone. Her best friends are her next door neighbors, Betty and Barney Rubble.

Wilma's personality is based on that of Alice Kramden, wife of Ralph Kramden on the 1950's television series The Honeymooners. Much like Alice, Wilma plays the strong-willed, level-headed person in her marriage, often criticizing Fred for pursuing his various ill-fated schemes. Wilma is often the one to bail out Fred when one of his schemes lands him in trouble.

Wilma's maiden name is the subject of a continuity error. Several early episodes in the original series clearly stated Wilma's maiden name was "Pebble." In the second season episode "The Entertainer", Wilma's old friend Greta Gravel remembers her as "Wilma Pebble", and in the third season episode "Dial S for Suspicion", one of Wilma's old boyfriends, calls her "Wilma Pebble."

However, later episodes and spin-offs firmly state her maiden name is indeed "Slaghoople", based upon the name of Wilma's mother in the original series, Pearl Slaghoople. Flintstones' writer Earl Kress explained the discrepancy as such: "Unfortunately, it's just as simple as Hanna-Barbera not caring about the continuity."

Jeanzi Nancy Szur, Have you signed up for the maximum number of questions for the day? Do you answer all the additional questions each day? Do you take all the personality quizzes and read all the stories each day? Do you review questions prior to their publication? Do you submit questions of your own? If you've unanswered "No" to any of these questions, that would certainly explain why you are losing ground. Others do some or all of these things and are racking up more daily points than you are despite your answering a few questions correctly. I hope this helps.

Pearl Slaghoople was one of Elizabeth Taylor's final film roles, appearing in the live-action Flintstones movie in 1994. I still laugh at the scene where the Flintstone's home is raided, and Fred unties Dino right away but leaves Pearl bound & gagged!

cbireland, If you're still at all interested you can click up the wikipedia article regarding Wilma and then click on "Betty Rubble" at the end of the first paragraph. You'll find that Betty is the daughter of Brick and Jean McBricker.

billyboy915, I was wondering the same thing, like last week it said I was in the top 650 and today or yesterday when they put out the next one I was in the top 700. I was confused bc I had been getting questions right, but most of the time I would answer just the ones in email unless I needed one more to get extra coin then I would only answer how many I needed for the coin. I guess I better start answering every available question, quiz, story etc. I've been trying to figure out some questions to submit that hasn't already been submitted. What did you mean when you said review before every question before publication? Is that for if submitting your own questions, even though I don't care to be even in the top 100, but it sucks dropping in the rankings every week or so. Thanks for sharing how to get more points.

This a little tidbit that I found, even though I'm in my mid-late 30s, for some reason I always thought her maiden name was Pebbles and I guess that's why I was confused when Pebbles, Pebbles, because I wondering why she would be named after Wilma's maiden name. I did go to school with a girl named Victoria Victoria Victomilla (sp?). http://flintstones.wikia.com/wiki/Wilma_Flintstone While the mid-1980s spin-off series The Flintstone Kids depicts Wilma as a child, the series seems to be mostly apocryphal due to its presenting Wilma as a childhood friend of Fred and Barney (the original series asserted that they met as young adults) as well as using the last name Slaghoople instead of the original Pebbles.  Sorry for the long ramble but I thought it was interesting. Guess they didn't expect kids to pay attention to the discrepancies and that we wouldn't bring it up all these years later.
