What kinds of whales are mostly seen at Kenai Fjords National Park?

Tours of Kenai Fjords National Park provide views of land and marine wildlife. Particularly, humpback and orca whales, as well as natural sights such as the fjords and tidewater glaciers, are found in the park.

Specifically, this park lies on the southeastern side of the Kenai Peninsula, about 130 miles south of Anchorage. The nearest large town in the region is Seward; it is located to the east of the park on Resurrection Bay. The park also includes the region's deeply indented glaciated coastline and its interior ice fields.

The park is bordered on the west by Kenai National Wildlife Refuge and on the south by Kachemak Bay State Park. It is only one of three national parks in Alaska that can be reached by road.

To get the best look at marine wildlife, people take tour cruises. They watch from the deck of comfortable vessels and listen as the National Park Ranger explains the dynamic habits of humpback and orca whales. People see the whales swim and breach around the boat.
