True "Gilmore Girls" fans will recognize Washington, CT and the Grace Mayflower Inn & Spa in Connecticut as the inspiration for Stars Hollow. This fictional town in Connecticut is a very good composite of several exquisite and appealing CT hamlets all rolled up into one. It is a place where Rory, Lorelei, and the rest of the gang in "Gilmore Girls" love and want to live. Amy Sherman-Palladino, the creator and producer of the show, more than once said that a visit to The Mayflower Inn was the catalyst for show. She came up with the idea for this show after a brief stay at The Mayflower. In the show, Lorelei Gilmore works at an inn that is very similar to The Mayflower. It's called the Independence Inn (later renamed the Dragonfly).
