The 1984 comedy "Revenge of the Nerds" took place at fictional Adams College!

The story revolved around two best friends, and nerds, Lewis Skolnick and Gilbert Rowe who enroll at Adams as freshmen to study computer science. But after a fire destroys the house that the football team/cool kids lived in, the jocks takeover the freshmen dorm forcing Lewis, Gilbert and the rest to live in the gym.

The nerds try to get better housing by joining a fraternity. But after being rejected, they form their own fraternity house under the probationary sponsorship of Lambda Lambda Lambda, a national black fraternity. The movie proceeds to show the nerds' struggle for survival and acceptance at Adams, with a resulting message that it's OK to be smart, ugly or different and that discriminating and bullying is unacceptable.

The film starred Robert Carradine as Lewis and Anthony Edwards as Gilbert. Actor John Goodman played the stereotypical jocks-first football coach in one of his earliest film roles. Timothy Busfield and James Cromwell also had minor roles in the film.

Shot on a $6 million budget, with primary filming locations being the University of Arizona and Texas A&M University, the film grossed more than $60 million at the box office and in rentals.

The film's legacy includes the growth of the Lambda Lambda Lambda fraternity around the country. The real life fraternity has six chapters in Connecticut, Maryland, New York, and Washington.

The movie spawned three sequels.
