In 1971 Super Bowl V featured the Dallas Cowboys against the Baltimore Colts. Dallas led 13-6 at the end of 3 quarters but went on to lose to Baltimore 16-13. This Super Bowl had many firsts including the first post-AFL-NFL merger Super Bowl, first rookie head coach to win a Super Bowl, along with the first and only Super Bowl to name the MVP a player on the losing team, and the first non-Quarterback to be named MVP!

In Super Bowl V also known as the "Stupor" Bowl as some called it for the many blunders and sloppy play that occurred, Chuck Howley (linebacker) of the Dallas Cowboys earned the MVP for recording two interceptions and forcing a fumble. At this time neither sacks nor tackles were recorded. In this game, there was a total of 11 turnovers with Howley forcing 3 or 27% of them.

For all the history he made not only in this game against future Hall of Fame QB Johnny Unitas but, his entire career of 15 years has yet to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
