Oktoberfest is the world's largest Volksfest (beer festival and travelling funfair) and probably the most popular and visited annual event of Germany. It is starts in the middle of September every year and lasts 16 days. The festival also takes place in Munich, Bavaria. According to the statistics, about 6 million people take part in the celebration. They come not only from all over the country, but also from different corners of the planet!

The Oktoberfest is an important part of Bavarian culture, having been held since 1810. By the way, people from around the world love the festival that much, that other cities of different countrues also hold Oktoberfest celebrations, modeled after the original Munich event.

On the dot of 12 noon on Saturday, September 17th, Munich’s mayor Dieter Reiter will tap the first barrel thus declaring the "Wiesn“ - as the Munich people call it – officially open. The festivities continue until Monday, October 3rd, 2016.
