The Hemsworth brothers were born in Melbourne, Australia, to Leonie (née van Os), an English teacher, and Craig Hemsworth, a social-services counsellor. Their maternal grandfather is a Dutch immigrant, and their other ancestry is English, Irish, Scottish, and German.

All three siblings, Luke, Chris & Liam currently work as actors.

Luke is known for his work on 'Thor: Ragnarok' (2017), 'Westworld' (2106) & 'Thor: The Dark World (2013)

Chris is known for his role in the long-running Australian TV soap-opera 'Home and Away' (2004-2007) and also as the title character Thor in the Marvel blockbuster 'Thor' series of movies.

Liam is known for his role as Josh Taylor in the Australian soap-opera 'Neighbours' (2007-2008), he starred as Will Blakelee in 'The Last Song' (2010), as Gale Hawthorne in the 'Hunger Games' film series (2012-2015), and as Jake Morrison in 'Independence Day: Resurgence' (2016).

Liam Hemsworth has been quoted as saying that though there is competition for jobs among them, it is friendly: "We are brothers and we are always competitive, but it is a good thing, it pushes us and we are always happy whenever someone books something."
