Mykonos, part of the Cyclades island group in the Aegean Sea, is one of the most popular and glamorous Greek isles, known for its non-stop party atmosphere. Beaches such as Paradise and Super Paradise welcome a diverse crowd, with sand side bars that blare thumping music. Massive dance clubs attract world renowned DJs and typically stay open well past dawn. Mykonos is now known as the party island of Greece.

The island was once very poor, and the people tried to survive on fishing and stock breeding on the harsh land. Also, there was the major industry of ship construction. But, tourism has turned the economy over since it started in the 1950's. Many of the locals were pleased about tourism; they knew that it saved the economy. Now, some people feel that the party attitude, which tourism has brought, has gone to far. Nonetheless, Mykonos is very well known for its great hospitality and for being a totally tourist friendly destination.
