The Luther Burbank Memorial Highway is in Santa Rosa, CA.

"FLOWERS MAKE PEOPLE BETTER, HAPPIER, AND MORE HELPFUL; THEY ARE SUNSHINE, FOOD AND MEDICINE TO THE MIND" Luther Burbank

Luther Burbank was an American botanist, and pioneer in agricultural science. Throughout Santa Rosa you will find many places dedicated to his memory. He was instrumental in helping the Irish wipe out their potato famine. He developed the Russet Burbank potato to help "revive the country's leading crop" as it is blight-resistant.

If you have ever eaten McDonald's French Fries, you've probably eaten the type of potato cultivated and created by Mr. Burbank.

He is pictured here with another person famous in this area, the author, Jack London.

He also created hundreds of fruit, tomato and ornamental flowers, some of which can still be seen today at the Luther Burbank Home and Gardens.
