Where is the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame located?
Since 1959, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame has honored and celebrated some of the greatest moments and brightest stars to ever play professional basketball. Housing more than 40,000 square feet of game memorabilia and history, as well as more than 300 inductees, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts, is a place that true basketball fans must see.
Beyond its traditional museum exhibits and displays, it has hundreds of interactive attractions, such as shooting contests, live clinics and skills challenges. Included in the enshrinement class of 2017 is Roberts Hughes, Tracy McGrady, Mannie Jackson and Nick Galis.

Visited there this past summer. Naismith developed the game while working at the YMCA to give the boys something to keep them active in the winter when it was too cold to go outside. It was played with two teams who had to shoot the ball into a peach basket which was nailed to the wall in the gym on either side of the court. Oddly enough, there were bottoms in the peach basket originally and someone had to retrieve the balls with a ladder after each score.

Seems as if I remember, back in grade school, being taught that he invented the game of basketball in order to keep the football players in shape during the off-season
