This 567-foot-tall column is located in Houston, Texas and named the San Jacinto Monument. It was constructed between 1936 and 1939 and became the tallest masonry column on the planet. The star on the top of the column weight as much as 200 tons. This symbol commemorates the place of the Battle of San Jacinto, which was the most important battle of the Texas Revolution. The battlefield the monument located on has the same name and is officially considered a National Historic Landmark and a Historic Place.
