The Sailor Who Fell from Grace with the Sea is a 1976 British drama film starring Kris Kristofferson and Sarah Miles, directed by Lewis John Carlino. It was adapted from the 1963 novel The Sailor Who Fell from Grace with the Sea by the Japanese writer Yukio Mishima. The location was changed to the English town of Dartmouth, Devon, the area where it was also filmed.

Kristoffer (Kris) Kristofferson (born June 22, 1936) is an American singer-songwriter, musician, and actor. He wrote and recorded the songs "Me and Bobby McGee", "For the Good Times", "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down", and "Help Me Make It Through the Night".

He has been in numerous films, television films, and television series.

He started acting in the 1970s, appearing in the films The Last Movie (1971), Cisco Pike (1972), Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid (1973), Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore (1974), and Vigilante Force (1976) before starring in the 1976 film A Star Is Born as John Norman Howard which earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor - Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. He appeared in the films Semi-Tough (1977), Heaven's Gate (1980), Flashpoint (1984), Big Top Pee-wee (1988), and Welcome Home (1989). In the 1990s, Kristofferson appeared in the 1993 film Knights with Lance Henriksen and in the 1996 film Lone Star. He was cast as Abraham Whistler in the vampire superhero action film series Blade, and also the 2011 film Dolphin Tale and again in the sequel, Dolphin Tale 2 (2014) among others.
