Roger Moore played James Bond seven times: Live and Let Die (1973), The Man with the Golden Gun (1974), The Spy Who Loved Me (1977), Moonraker (1979), For Your Eyes Only (1981), Octopussy (1983) and A View to a Kill (1985).
Pierce Brosnan played James Bond four times: GoldenEye (1995), Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), The World Is Not Enough (1999) and Die Another Day (2002).
David Niven played James Bond once in Casino Royal (1967).

Ah David Niven. The epitomy of an English gentleman and a wonderful actor.He wrote 2 extremely funny books about his life. Unfortunately died from Lou Gehrigs disease. They don't make them like that any more, sadly.

In the 1967 version almost EVERYBODY played James Bond, including Woody Allen.The premise was that an agent of so many abilities could not be a single man but many, designed according to the needs of the mission. It was not a Saltzman - Broccoli production, since "Casino Royale" was the only Fleming's book not included in the purchase of his works, because he had already sold the rights to an American TV network.

The Casino Royale version where David Niven played Bond was a crazy comedy where even Woody Allen played James Bond. Actually this first of the James Bond saga, could not be acquired by Salzman and Broccoli, because Ian Fleming had already sold the rights to an American TV network. Casino Royale's first version, for TV, turned 007 into "Jimmy Bond" and was an American CIA agent!!!!

When the first movie was being put together Fleming favored Niven for Bond but Cubby Brocolli the producer wanted a tougher meaner actor, Connery got the part.

A friend of mine's father was a very good friend of Ian Fleming (he even named my friend Ian, after Fleming). Fleming apparently told him that Moore had Bond's "look" and Connery had "the voice". Given the books' characterisations of a sometimes ruthless and sometimes charming Bond, maybe a portrayal in the movies that was somewhere between Moore and Connery would've been closer to the books. Mind you, the movies ended up straying a looooong way from the books!
