The Atlanta Beltline will have an outdoor pedestrian only trail that runs 22 miles through the heart of the city of Atlanta, Georgia connecting some of the most densely populated and vibrant looking neighborhoods in the city. It is a trail which exclusively has pedestrian and bicycle pathways.

Although the project itself is still not complete, as part of the American Tobacco Trail (ATT), it is a 22 mile shared-use path that begins in the City of Durham and extends through the Research Triangle region of North Carolina. It will cover the unused railroad tracks that circle the city’s core neighborhoods. Also, since its original focus has expanded, it includes parks and green space, streetcars, public art, affordable housing, economic development, environmental sustainability, and historic preservation.

Now in a limited state, the Atlanta Beltline offers access to pedestrian trails, bike paths, running paths, open spaces, cultivated parks and gardens. It is seen as the urban, artistic, and cultural lifeline of the city.

Additionally the Atlanta Beltline is home to the Art on the Beltline project, the Southeast’s largest public art project. Many unique restaurants, cafés, and performers flank the Beltline. Thus a person can easily stroll from their home to hundreds of restaurants, bars or shops making up the Beltline.
