The 1970s U.S. TV show "The Electric Company" was an educational children's television series created by Paul Dooley and directed by Bob Schwartz. "Spidey Super Stories" were short written pieces that debuted during the fourth season; they featured Spider-Man (played by Danny Seagren from 1974 to 1977) foiling petty criminals. He uses spider-like abilities to fight evil and do good within the world as a superhero.

On the show, Spidey was never seen out of costume as his alter ego, Peter Parker. Also, he only spoke in speech balloons which the audience was required to read. As a result of these efforts, a spin-off comic book, "Spidey Super-Stories," was produced by Marvel Comics starting in 1974 to 1981.
