Which country designed the American Space Shuttle Remote Manipulator System (SRMS) or articulating arm?

Also known as Canadarm, the arm was a series of robotic arms designed to remove and grab onto objects in and out of the shuttle cargo bay such as satellites , in order to launch or repair them. The Canada and maple leaf logo is visible on the arm itself. Five arms were built and delivered to NASA for each of the space shuttles. One of the most famous instances was the launch of the Hubble telescope in 1990. However, due to design and production errors on the telescope it was retrieved and repaired during 5 subsequent missions.
