Ingrid Bergman, one of the greatest actresses from Hollywood's lamented Golden Era, gave a stellar performance in Casablanca in her role as Ilsa Lund.

Bergman was a Swedish actress who achieved success not only in Europe, but in the U.S. as well. She made a lot of popular films. But, she is best known for her role in Casablanca, opposite Humphrey Bogart. Also, she is known because she played alongside Cary Grant in the Hitchcock film, Notorious (1946). And, she had other hit films which include: For Whom the Bell Tolls (1943), Gaslight (1944), Spellbound (1945) and Joan of Arc (1948).

In 2007, the American Film Institute ranked Bergman as the 4th greatest female screen legend of classic American cinema. Also, she won three Academy Awards, two Emmy Awards, four Golden Globe Awards, a BAFTA Award, and the Tony Award for Best Actress.
