After graduating from Eureka College in 1932 (with a degree in Economics and Sociology), Reagan drove himself to Iowa, where he held jobs as an announcer at several stations. He moved to WHO radio in Des Moines as an announcer for Chicago Cubs baseball games. His specialty was creating play-by-play accounts of games using as his source only basic descriptions that the station received by wire as the games were in progress.

While on the road with the Cubs during spring training in California, Reagan took a screen test for Warner Bros. Studios, and this led to a seven year contract with Warner Bros.

Ronald Reagan went on to become our nation's 40th President in 1980 (defeating incumbent Jimmy Carter) and was re-elected for a second term in 1984, when he defeated (in a landslide vote) Walter Mondale.
