The shortest distance across the strait is from the South Foreland, 33.1 kilometres (20.6 miles) northeast of Dover in the county of Kent, England, to Cap Gris Nez, a cape near to Calais in the French département of Pas-de-Calais, France. Between these points lies the most popular route for cross-channel swimmers.

The White Cliffs of Dover are cliffs that form part of the English coastline facing the Strait of Dover and France.

It seems it would be the English Channel??!! Does anyone know The Queen and they can ask here? The Strait of Dover is breathtaking! I hope I get the chance to see it again?!! London was my favorite! So much to see. Lovely people. What I love most, they keep and preserve all their beautiful buildings. Here in America, we destroy, tear down, burn down and spray paint graffiti on our buildings, very sad.

I always think of Vera Lynn, White Cliffs of Dover, Mam loved that song and I grew to love it too. Would love to know who put Cook Strait, would take a while to get to France from there. lol
