Sandy Alomar Sr. struck out once in 1975; his son, Hall of Famer Robbie Alomar, Jr. struck out three times, all in 1991. Bobby Bonds, Sr. struck out once in 1975; his son, current career home run leader Barry Bonds struck out once in 1988.

Tito Francona struck out once in 1968; his son, Terry Francona, the current manager of the Cleveland Indians, struck out once in 1987. Ken Griffey, Sr. struck out once in 1988; his son, Hall of Famer Ken Griffey, Jr. struck out once in 1991.

Hal McRae struck out once in 1979; his son, Brian McRae struck out once in 1992. Ducky Schofield struck out once in 1968; his son, Dick Schofield struck out once in 1990. Lastly, Maury Wills struck out once in 1971; his son, Bump Wills struck out once in 1979.
