On January 15, 1967 the National Football League (NFL) Green Bay Packers defeated the American Football League (AFL) Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl I by a score of 35 to 10. The games was billed as the “AFL-NFL World Championship Game” which later became known as the Super Bowl.

The game was played at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, California. This was the first meeting of the two best teams from the rival football leagues.

After posting a record of 11-2-1 in 1966, the Chiefs defeated the Buffalo Bills by a score of 31-7 in the AFL Championship Game. The Packers finished the 1966 season with a 12-2 record and defeated the Dallas Cowboys 34-27 in the NFL League Championship Game.

Super Bowl I is the only Super Bowl to have been broadcast by two networks at the same time. NBC had the rights to televise the AFL games. CBS held the rights to the NFL games. As a result, both networks were permitted to televise the game.
