Fisherman's Wharf is a neighborhood and popular tourist attraction in San Francisco, California. It roughly encompasses the northern waterfront area of San Francisco from Ghirardelli Square or Van Ness Avenue east to Pier 35. The F Market streetcar runs through the area; the Powell Hyde cable car lines runs to Aquatic Park, at the edge of Fisherman's Wharf, and the Powell Mason cable car line runs a few blocks away.

Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco gets its name and neighborhood characteristics from the city's early days of the mid to later 1800s when Italian immigrant fishermen came to the city by the bay to take advantage of the gold rush frenzy.

Steve Main, Looking up Fisherman's Wharf, I got the idea that the one and only Fisherman's Wharf (which have visited many times) is in San Francisco. The one in Boston seems to be the Boston Fish Pier.

Because of the dispute over the location of Charlestown Navy Yard, I looked it up online. It seems to be located in Boston (definitely so on one map of the Boston area).

dcgustin, I'm a San Franciscan and do not endorse this, but many would say San Francisco's is FISHERMAN'S WHARF while the rest are simply Fisherman's Wharf.

I was just on FB, discussing the Wharf and how I got to eat in most of the restaurants when I was growing up, and later as well. My first job was on the wharf as a cook and counter boy in a candy store.
