From the following movies: Malcolm X (1992), He Got Game (1998), Mo' Better Blues (1990), and Glory (1989), the movie Glory is the one that was not directed by Spike Lee. Glory was directed by Edward Zwick. This film is an American Civil War story starring Matthew Broderick, Denzel Washington, Cary Elwes, and Morgan Freeman.

With Zwick who was born in 1952 in Winnetka, Cook County, Illinois, he began acting and directing while in high school. Next he continued directing for the theatre while studying literature at Harvard. Upon graduation, he obtained a Rockefeller Fellowship to study in Europe. At that point, he worked for some major innovative theatre companies.

In 1975, Zwick was accepted as a Directing Fellow at the American Film Institute. His AFI short film, Timothy and the Angel, won first place in the student film competition. The next year (1976) he caught the attention of producers for the TV series Family. He began his major movie career directing About Last Night (1986).

Noting director, Spike Lee, he directed at least 40 more films besides the 3 films listed above. Also a highpoint in Lee's career came when in 1990 he received an Oscar nomination for Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen for his film, Do the Right Thing (1989).
