With Eric Clapton’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist on March 6, 2000, he became the first musician to have been inducted three times. He was previously inducted in 1992 as a member of the Yardbirds (Keith Relf, Chris Dreja, Jim McCarty, Paul Samwell-Smith, Jeff Beck and Clapton). Then, in 1993, Clapton was again inducted into the Hall as a member of Cream (Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker and Clapton).

Both Paul McCartney and John Lennon were inducted two times, once with the Beatles (1988) and once as solo artists (Lennon in 1994 and McCartney in 1999).

Elvis was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986.
