Seventeen songs are included on the original movie soundtrack for Saturday Night Fever. The soundtrack contains: 'More Than A Woman,' You Should Be Dancing,' 'How Deep is Your Love,' and fourteen other songs. The song 'Too Much Heaven' is not a Bee Gees' song that is used as music for the film. “Too Much Heaven”, was written in 1978.

This song was a contribution to the "Music for UNICEF" fund. The Bee Gees performed the song at the Music for UNICEF Concert in January 1979. It is the opening track of the Bee Gee’s fifteenth studio album 'Spirits Have Flown' (released in October 1979).

Robin Gibb said the following about the song 'Too Much Heaven.' "The starving children of the world was the genesis of this song. In 1979, early in the evolution of music charity efforts, we donated this one to UNICEF and its worldwide work which we felt strongly about. 'I can see a new tomorrow' [a line in the song] does demonstrate a positive aspect about moving forward, even though bad things do happen."

'Too Much Heaven' was released 9 months after 'Night Fever.' At the time, this was the longest gap in The Bee Gees' distribution of singles since 1975.
