Only on the island of St. Lucia can you wake up to a symphony of birds and drive through a volcano. Pointedly, Saint Lucia stands apart from the rest of the Caribbean. St. Lucia is not one of the U.S. Virgin Islands. It is a sovereign island country in the eastern Caribbean Sea on the boundary of the Atlantic Ocean. Part of the Lesser Antilles, it is located north/northeast of the island of Saint Vincent, northwest of Barbados, and south of Martinique. Truly, the exotic beauty of St. Lucia captures the luxuriant allure found within most the Caribbean.

The United States Virgin Islands are made up of a group of Caribbean islands and islets. They are a U.S. territory, and they are known for white-sand beaches, reefs, and verdant hills.

Within the U.S. Virgin Islands, the island of St. Thomas is home to the capital, Charlotte Amalie. To the east is the island of St. John, most of which comprises Virgin Islands National Park. And then, there is the island of St. Croix. It is known for its historic towns that include Christiansted and Frederiksted. These two towns are on opposite ends of St. Croix, Frederiksted on the western end and Christiansted on the east.
