Nolan Ryan (The Ryan Express) had 215 games in which he struck out at least ten batters. Ryan played 27 years and holds the career strikeout record with 5,714. His fastball was regularly clocked at over 100 mph. While he had a devastating fastball, he didn't always have command of it. Ryan also holds the MLB career record for bases on balls with 2,795 and wild pitches with 277.

Ryan tossed seven no-hitters (MLB record), twelve one-hitters (tied with Bob Feller for the MLB record), and eighteen two hitters. Nolan played for the Mets (1966, 1968-1971), Angels (1972-1979), Astros (1980-1988), and the Rangers (1989-1993).

Interestingly, Ryan never won a Cy Young Award but he did finish in the top five on five occasions. Ryan was inducted to the Hall of Fame in 1999.
