75% or fifteen of the 20 largest islands in the United States are located in Alaska. These fifteen islands, ranked by size include: Kodiak Island (#2), Prince of Wales Island (#3), Chichagof Island (#4) , St. Lawrence Island (#5) , Admiralty Island (#6), Nunivak Island (#7), Unimak Island (#8), Baranof Island (#9), Revillagigedo Island (#11), Kupreanof Island (#12), Unalaska Island ((#13), Nelson Island (#14), Kuiu Island (#15), Afognak Island (#17) and Umnak Island (#18).

The island of Hawaii (also known as The Big Island) in the state of Hawaii is the largest island (#1) in the United States. Maui, Oahu and Kauai, also in Hawaii, are ranked #16, #19 and #20 respectively.

The only other state which includes one of the 20 largest islands in the United States is New York. Long Island is ranked #10.

Margaret Kinnaman, Yes Manhattan is an island and it makes up most of the borough of Manhattan. It is not 75% of the largest islands in the United States and is therefore irrelevant to this question.
