A version of the song, "Unchained Melody" (performed as a solo by Bobby Hatfield) achieved success and great popularity when it was featured in the 1990 blockbuster film Ghost.

Today if you look at some of the reviews by music critics, these reviews state that songs used in the romantic fantasy film, Ghost are presented in a haphazard way. Clearly "Unchained Medley," which is featured so prominently in the film, is a joy to hear, as are some of the instrumental incidental pieces, but the whole album does not make for a cohesive listening experience when you hear the entire soundtrack.

Additionally, in an interview with composer Marice Jarre, when he was providing facts for The 2005 Silver Screen Edition of the movie, he said that the love theme "Unchained Melody" was purposefully picked to be the base around which all other songs (music) was added. Also other background facts are highlighted in extensive liner notes explaining the motivations behind this film and which choice of music to use.

In the end the music soundtrack here is sprinkled with suspense, humor, and is a good accompaniment to the movie because for some it does work to convey tension, fear, dementia, etc.
