It may seem like a surprise, but it shouldn't. In the 1991 Hollywood film "My Girl", Macaulay Culkin (Mack) became the first child actor to ever receive one million dollars for one film. Plus, he did this in a supporting role! In the film "My Girl", Mack played "Thomas J. Sennett", a boy who seems to be allergic to everything. Even with some controversy over its ending, the film was released and proved to be a big hit film for Mack.

Next, in 1992 Mack did the film "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York". It was a film which grossed over $172 million in the U.S. "The Good Son" followed in 1993. It was the first film role where Mack departed from playing a cute kid. He played a murderous little demon named Henry. He only got this role because his manager and father (Kit Culkin) said that he would pull Mack out of "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York" unless he was given the lead role in "The Good Son". Mack's salary for being in this film was $5 million USD.

In 1994, at the age of 14, Mack began making films that were duds. They were: "The Pagemaster" (1994), "Getting Even with Dad" (1994), and "Ri¢hie Ri¢h" (1994). He was paid $8 million for the last two movies. This was the highest salary ever paid to a child star. This was done despite the fact that he was no longer the cute little kid that performed in "Home Alone" (1990).
