Who has scored a record 277 points in the Rugby (Union) World Cup?

Jonathan Peter "Jonny" Wilkinson (born 25 May 1979) is an English former rugby union player who represented England and the British and Irish Lions. He rose to prominence from 2001 to 2003, before and during the 2003 Rugby World Cup, and was acknowledged as one of the world's best rugby union players.

Wilkinson holds the Rugby World Cup points record with 277 and is the only player to score points in two Rugby World Cup Finals.

In 2002, Wilkinson was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE). In the 2004 New Year Honours, he was promoted to Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE). In the 2015 Queen's Birthday Honours, he was promoted to Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) 'for services to Rugby Union'.

filmnut, He is a Quizzclub Clone. He "joined" in April 2016. In the 74 months since then, he has had 5317 questions published. That's almost 74 questions per month or almost 2.4 questions per day! Astounding! That's a full time job, especially considering how difficult it is for regular players to get even one question through review. I don't believe Special Patrol Group is a real player.

Johnny Wilkinson was a great Rugby player. He was known for his good goal kicking, but his skills were much greater than just that. From 5/8, he could attack from any angle and he also was very good in defense. When England beat Australia in the World Cup, Johnny Wilkinson and England's Prop and captain, Johnson, were two of their best.

I don’t watch rugby. . . have played the game. I’m (was) a big, strong “ Downhiller “ used to punk out the Australian that played in Sun Valley. I loved to hurt them. They thought their game was better than “American Football”. I was a player, late in life for the 49ers ‘77 - ‘79. I worked out with them a “Sierra Community College”

In 19 appearances he had one try, 28 conversions, 58 penalties and 14 drop-goals across four World Cups going from 1999 to 2011. Gavin Hastings of Scotland follows 50 points behind although he had six less appearances than Jonny.
