Who holds the longest non-legal long jump set at high altitude?

Michael "Mike" Anthony Powell (born November 10, 1963) is an American former track and field athlete, and the holder of the long jump world record. He is a two-time world champion in this event and two-time Olympic silver medallist.

Powell was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended Edgewood High School in West Covina, California, where he finished second in the High jump at the CIF California State Meet in 1981. He went on to attend the University of California, Irvine and later transferred to the University of California at Los Angeles.

He also holds the longest non-legal jump of 8.99 m (29 ft 53⁄4 in) (wind-aided +4.4) set at high altitude in Sestriere, Italy in 1992.

Beamon still holds the Olympic record from Mexico City in 1968. His jump was altitude assisted but the record has stood for over fifty years.

Many, if not most jumping and throwing records have been set at altitude. Because of the reduced air resistance. Why are so many complaining about this question. I remember clearly watching three of them, Mike Powell, Carl Lewis & Bob Beamon win their Olympic long jump gold medals. I'm not even American. Apologies to Greg, as I don't recall him.

John Seiple, nothing criminal about him/his effort. That's a slanderous comment! As stated it was wind assisted. That means it was higher than that allowed for it to be counted as a record. I stand to be corrected, but I think 2m/sec is the permissible maximum. He was still the legitimate winner of the competition on that day. All other jumpers had the same wind conditions.
