Who invented the microwave oven?

Microwave oven was accidentally invented by Percy Spencer. Mr. Spencer joined the US Navy at the age of 18 because of his interest in wireless communication. He made himself an expert on radio technology He studied seriously during his free time or during night shift and taught himself on trigonometry, calculus, physics and other science subjects. He then became one of the leading experts in radar tube design. He then got a contract with the government to develop combat radar equipment. The said project was among the top priority projects during World War II. During his regular inspection on the magnetrons in the radar set, he noticed that the candy bar inside his pocket melted while standing in front of an active radar set. This was the start of the microwave oven. The first design was just a metal box attached to a high density electromagnetic field generator. The design was further improved and the cost was greatly reduced to become affordable to most of the people. Today, microwave oven is part of the kitchen in most homes in many countries.
