Who is in the picture?

The image is that of Amy Lou Adams, who was born on August 20, 1972, in Vicenza, Italy, when her father was in the US Army and stationed, along with his wife, at the nearby Caserma Ederle military base. Eventually, the Adams family, including seven children, landed in Castle Rock, Colorado. Her parents wrote skits for their children and Amy typically has the lead role.

She trained as a ballerina but, at 18, switched to musical theater and spent four years in dinner theater, through 1998. She appeared in a number of amateur productions, as a volunteer, and supported herself working as a Gap store customer-greeter and as a waitress at Hooters, long enough to buy a car.

In 1999, Adams made her first appearance in a feature film, “Drop Dead Gorgeous”. She moved to Los Angeles and won several small television and film roles. Her first major role was in 2002’s “Catch Me If You Can”, directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Her first major success came in the 2007 musical film, “Enchanted”, in which she had the lead role, as an enchanted princess.

Since then, she has starred in many major motion pictures and starred in the Public Theater 2012 revival of “Into the Woods”. She has been nominated for five Academy Awards and six British Academy Film Awards and received several acting prizes. She has two Golden Globes. “Time” magazine named her one of the “100 most influential people in the world” in 2014, and was named to the Forbes “Celebrity 100” list.
