Who is the actor and character in the picture?

An internationally famous and well respected bodybuilder / actor, Lou Ferrigno first appeared on TV screens in 1977 as the musclebound The Incredible Hulk (1978), the alter ego of meek scientist Bruce Banner. Ferrigno was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1951 and as a child suffered from an ear infection that resulted in permanent partial hearing loss. Undeterred by what some may have perceived as a disadvantage, Lou threw himself into athletics (predominantly weightlifting and body building) and at the age of 21 won his first Mr. Universe title. For good measure, he came back and won it again the following year.

The Incredible Hulk is an American television series based on the Marvel Comics character The Hulk. The series aired on the CBS television network and starred Bill Bixby as David Banner, Lou Ferrigno as the Hulk, and Jack Colvin as Jack McGee.

Big Lou is also a successful author with two books detailing his bodybuilding knowledge, and his life behind the scenes playing the Incredible Hulk on TV in the 1970s, plus he has a popular website frequented by his many fans worldwide.

And back in the 70s, Bill Bixby felt David Banner was a more masculine sounding name than Bruce. It has been the ONLY deviation from canon. All the movie incarnations went back to calling him Bruce Banner. David Bruce Banner has become an outdated relic of the somewhat homophobic 70s. And thank goodness for that. Goodbye "David" Banner. We hardly knew ya. Thankfully.

Mr. Ferrigno was also a body guard to a gentleman named Jack Bowman who owned 2 restaurants in Columbus, Ohio. My father used to escort Mr. Ferrigno & Mr. Bowman to the bank, after the restaurants closed in the wee hours, to do deposits. My dad was a lieutenant for the Franklin County Sheriff's Office at the time.Very, very nice man!
