Robert Ludlum is the creator of the super spy Jason Bourne. He wrote 27 thrillers, most of which were best sellers, and most notable amongst those is the Bourne series. His books have sold around 500 million copies around the world and have been translated in more than 33 languages. He created Jason Bourne in the first of the trilogy, 'The Bourne Identity', in February 1980, which sold millions of copies worldwide. This was followed by ' The Bourne Supremacy', in 1986 and finally the last of the trilogy, 'The Bourne Ultimatum', in 1990. A television film based on 'The Bourne Identity', starring Chris Chamberlain in the lead role of Jason Bourne, was made in 1988. This was followed by a feature film starring Matt Damon in the eponymous role which again hit gold in 2002. Two more films followed, thus completing the trilogy, making Jason Bourne immortal in Hollywood too.

Robert Ludlum was born in New York city, New York, on May 27, 1927 and died on March 12, 2001 at the age of 73 survived by his wife and two sons.
