Who is this man?

Henry Ross Perot, known as Ross Perot, is an American businessman best known for being an independent presidential candidate in 1992 and the Reform party presidential candidate in 1996. On February 20, 1992, he announced his intention to run as an independent if his supporters could get his name on the ballot in all fifty states. With such declared policies as balancing the federal budget, opposition to gun control, ending the outsourcing of jobs and enacting electronic direct democracy via "electronic town halls", he became a potential candidate and soon polled roughly even with the two major party candidates. At one point in June, Perot led the polls with 39% (versus 31% for Bush and 25% for Clinton). In the 1992 election, he received 18.9% of the popular vote, approximately 19,741,065 votes (but no electoral college votes), making him the most successful third-party presidential candidate in terms of the popular vote since Theodore Roosevelt in the 1912 election.

Mary Delia Gainey,: Yeah, ruinous like balancing the budget and actually showing a surplus. Ruinous like not ignoring the threat posed by bin Laden. Ruinous as in not crashing the economy, starting two endless wars and cutting taxes while fighting them, ballooning the deficit.

Ross Perot will forever be remembered as the spoiler of that election because he had zero chance of winning but ruined the win for Bush and the Conservatives, thus allowing the Clintons to begin their ruinous run of America.

Mary Delia Gainey, You're right about his ruining the election and electing Clinton.I saw a political cartoon showing someone asking Clinton, "How much did you pay that little feller to run and help you get elected?" In general, I have a lot of respect for Ross Perot, but he did a great disservice by running in those elections. Many of the policies that he he proposed were good, but he split the conservative vote and elected Bill Clinton.

So I’ll only touch on your first fallacy, balancing the budget, that was all a numbers trick that only fools an idiots, or blind hatred of their opponents can muster. Oh sure you may “say” he balanced the budget. But tell us where did all those IOU’s come from in the S.S. Lock Box? Anyone with a lick of sense knows where any surplus came from in reality, from President Reagan! Along with Clinton’s deep cuts in Military spending, including the VA.

I met Ross Perot several years ago. He was a kinder and more gentle man than most people realize. He gave away his family home (in Texarkana TX) to be used to help families dealing with hardships, a home to live in until they could get back on their feet. The beautiful Perot Theater was also a gift to the city by Mr. Perot. ~🌹🌹Rest in Peace Ross Perot🌹🌹~
