Who portrays “Lily Adams” on a series of AT&T commercials run on US television starting in 2013?

American Telephone and Telegraph—AT&T—hired Milana Aleksandrovna Vayntrub to portray a retail-store saleswoman named Lily Adams for a series of US television commercials. The first of these was broadcast in November, 2013.

Born on March 8, 1987, in Tashkent, the capital of what is now Uzbekistan, Vayntrub was three years old when her family immigrated to West Hollywood. Partly to help her family out of financial difficulty, she started working at age five, in “Barbie” commercials for Mattel, the global toy/game/video company based in El Segundo, California.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of California, San Diego, and worked in improvisational comedy with the Upright Citizens Brigade. After a visit to Greece in 2016, she began the social media campaign, “#CantDoNothing”, to address the flight of Syrian Civil War refugees subsequently caught up in the European migrant crisis.

Vayntrub has appeared on US television programs, online projects, and in feature films. Credits include “This Is Us”, “Other Space” on Yahoo; “Live Prude Girls”, on the YouTube comedy channel, which she and Stevie Nelson started; “Life Happens”; “Silicon Valley”; several “CollegeHumor” website videos; and music videos.

Milana was hired to portray Marvel’s superhero Doreen Green, aka “Squirrel Girl” in “New Warriors” on Freeform TV in 2018, and in Marvel Animation’s 2018 film, “Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors”.
