Ronnie Spector, the lead singer for the 1960s girls pop group the Ronettes, sang the chorus "Be my little baby" on Eddie Money's hit "Take Me Home Tonight". The song reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts on Nov. 15, 1986. More importantly, the song saved Money's career, while bringing Spector out of retirement and encouraging her to perform again.

Money's career struggled in the mid-1980s because of his years of drug abuse.

Originally, Money didn't like the song, but thought the catchphrase was nice. He wanted to get Spector to do the song since she had sang the lyrics on the 1963 hit "Be My Baby". But the producers thought Spector would never go for it. Money's friend Martha Davis, the lead singer for The Motels, took a crack at it. Davis was good, but she also told Money that Spector should sing the chorus.

Money called Spector. At first, she was reluctant to do it because she had been retired, was raising her children and had a very bad, six-year marriage to record producer Phil Spector which soured her outlook on the business. Phil Spector had emotionally abused Ronnie. Money was able to convince Ronnie Spector to sing.

The song was nominated for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance at the 29th Annual Grammy Awards. It lost to Robert Palmer's "Addicted to Love".

Spector and the Ronettes were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007.

Said Money in 1987, "I didn't like the song, but it helped Ronnie out. So I am glad I did it."
