Should you warn the flight attendants when you think another plane is flying too close to the one you're on?

Nope. Never. For several reasons:
You're almost certainly wrong. Like, you're 99.99% likely to be wrong. So likely, it is pretty much a given. In fact, I'll tell you now: you're wrong. You have not got the practice at seeing aircraft aloft, and because of the distances involved, the different sizes of aircraft and, most importantly, the bland and distant backdrop, your perception of the distance of the aircraft out your window is very skewed. There is a high chance that the aircraft you are seeing is several miles distant and several thousand feet higher or lower than you.
The pilots can see all the airplanes around them - their distance, altitude and whether they are climbing or descending. They are well aware of what is going on. Far more so than you are.
If there is a potential conflict, the TCAS system on both aircraft will create a warning and give avoidance commands to the pilots. In many aircraft now, AP TCAS carries out the evasion manouvre entirely without pilot input. So your intervention is entirely unnecessary.
So just calm down, chill out and just enjoy the flight. Let us worry about things like aircraft separation - that's what we are paid lots of money for.

Who wrote this? Australian with an extra i. Sydney with an i. And it's Clancy, not Casey, of the Overflow. Absolutely appalling!

Trixie Pettman-South, The place Banjo Patterson was born is incorrectly spelled. It is Sydney.

Sorry Sean Philips, Australian is correct. It was not Casey of the.. but Clancy. Sydney is the correct spelling, never seen it otherwise. don't even see the word sons in the answer. I suggest you do a little research yourself. Unless you are PERFECT, don't be critical of others, as I am, but I do not profess to be perfect..!!

So many errors! It would have been appropriate to mention that Banjo was a nickname and his full name is Andrew Barton Paterson.

Jules Young, if you look at the heading, Australian is spelt incorrectly, Sean Philips is correct. Love Banjo Paterson’s works. Lucky enough to live in a street named after him 😊

Okay to strong a reliance on spell checker. My favorite of his is "The Man from Ironbark"

I appreciate that you wanted to highlight the work of this wonderful poet, but your explanation does need tweaking ...
