Who was the 2nd President of the United States of America?

Wow. Unbelievable results. One in 20 think Franklin was president. He did not wish to be. A stunning piece of trivia... John Adams, 90, and our third president, Thomas Jefferson, 82, died on the same day within 5 hours. But not just any day. It was July 4, 1826. The 50th anniversary of our country. The 2 men were enemies from 1800 until 1812 because of widely different visions for our government. Adams broke the stalemate by writing Jefferson a note.

Steve McVey I had not give that a thought, but they all do seem to count on the USA to pull them out of a crisis or give them refuge. We give our lives and all when called on for that help. Outside of the UN during the WW's, in my lifetime only once have I known of any country coming to our aid. That was our neighbor Mexico during a hurricane disaster in the Gulf. It's okay SM, your born freedom to live here and make that statement has been dearly paid for.

George Oliver Prince, George, their animosity was very real and very bitter and lasted through Adams’ only term and both of Jefferson’s two terms. Never stronger than during the vicious election of 1800, one of the dirtiest in history. However, their mutual silence was broken after Jefferson left office and in 1812 they reconnected by mail, partially due to the efforts of Abigail Adams, and continued communicating very cordially until their mutual deaths on July 4, 1826. There is a wonderful complete collection of their correspondence of over 600 pages titled “ The Adams-Jefferson Letters” (1959) renewed (1987) edited by Lester J. Cappon. Fascinating stuff written for history but also when neither no longer had voters or legislators to please. Great reading for any student of history.

Ben Totuous, Franklin was born in England. Since he wasn’t a natural born citizen he didn’t qualify.

Sadly, he and Thomas Jefferson both passed on the 50th Anniversary of the Independence of our great nation.
