While working at the Washington Times-Herald newspaper, as the "Inquiring Camera Girl", Jacqueline (Jackie) Bouvier covered the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. It was her job to ask people in the United States in Washington, D.C. interesting questions. The people would then have their pictures taken, and Jackie would follow-up by writing their answers in a newspaper column. She was able to cover the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in England in June 1953. At the time, she earned $42.50 per week as a reporter and photographer. She ended her venture into journalism with her coverage on the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.

Also, while working for the Washington Times-Herald, Jackie met her future husband John (Jack) Fitzgerald Kennedy. They met at a dinner party in May 1952 at the Georgetown home of Charles Bartlett. Bartlett was then the Washington, D.C. news correspondent for the Chattanooga Times Free Press, a daily newspaper published in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Jackie became the wife of the future 35th President of the United States, (JFK) in September 1953. After her marriages to Kennedy and Onassis, her full name became Jacqueline Lee Kennedy Onassis.
